PILOT TESTING
An integral part of successful site remediation is the performance of pilot tests. Pilot test data is used to provide a quantitative basis for remedial system design, including the construction details and spacing for remediation wells, including Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE) Radius of Influence (ROI),
Air Sparge ROI, Groundwater Recovery ROI, and Multiphase Extraction ROI. Pilot testing data also provides necessary data to perform engineering design and procurement of remediation equipment including air flow rates, vacuum requirements, groundwater treatment flow rates and compressed air requirements.
NassCass has performed numerous pilot tests, including the following:
1. Soil Vapor Extraction in fractured bedrock and unconsolidated aquifers and vadose zone conditions.
2. Air Sparge in fractured bedrock, karst and unconsolidated aquifers.
3. Groundwater Aquifer Pumping Tests in fractured bedrock, karst and unconsolidated aquifers.
4. Multiphase Extraction in fractured bedrock, karst and unconsolidated aquifers.
NassCass maintains and in-house capacity to perform these tests, using state of the art, mobile equipment components combined with automated data acquisition instrumentation and data processing software.
